Before You Unbox
Confirm building management rules on continuous mechanical noise. Photograph your intended spot, nearest shared wall, and available vents. Note circuit breaker labels. If hash rate target is 0.05 TH/s or above, consider booking a noise assessment first — reordering steps after purchase costs more.
Installation Steps
- Isolate vibration. Place the unit on neoprene pads or a plywood platform with rubber feet. Direct concrete contact transfers low-frequency rumble to rooms below.
- Plan intake separately from exhaust. Intake should draw cool air from the room or a dedicated grille. Exhaust should leave the space without recirculating hot air onto the intake path.
- Route duct with gradual bends. Sharp corners cost static pressure and push fans harder. Support flex duct so it does not sag onto the miner housing.
- Secure cables and leave service gap. Leave 15 cm behind the unit for filter access. Strap power cables away from fan paths.
- Run a thirty-minute thermal soak. Fans stabilize after warm-up. Measure noise at one metre and at the shared wall using a phone meter app only as a rough check — calibrated meters matter for disputes.
- Document readings. Save date, time, and photos for building management. Seasonal re-checks in summer prevent surprise complaints.
When to Stop and Call Us
Stop if you smell hot insulation, see repeated breaker trips, or hear grinding rather than airflow. Grinding suggests bearing failure or foreign object in the fan shroud.
