220 V Circuits and Sustained Miner Load in Korean Homes

South Korean homes typically deliver 220 V to dedicated appliance outlets. Miners in the 0.05–0.1 TH/s residential class often draw 400–900 watts continuous. That is manageable on a dedicated circuit — less so on a line shared with a rice cooker and microwave.

Finding a Dedicated Line

Before purchase, locate the breaker label for your intended outlet. Assessments include a clamp-meter reading when clients grant access. We note voltage sag under load; drops beyond five percent suggest shared wiring or undersized cable runs common in renovated officetels.

Continuous vs Peak Rating

Breakers tolerate brief peaks. Miners run flat-out for hours. A 15 A circuit at 220 V theoretically supplies 3.3 kW, but we recommend staying below seventy percent continuous load on shared residential wiring — especially in buildings where neutral paths are uncertain.

AFCI and Older Panels

Some newer units trip arc-fault breakers when PSU inrush current spikes at startup. Remedies include staggered power-up relays or replacing PSUs with soft-start models. We flag this during equipment matching when clients list breaker types.

Heat Is Electrical Waste

Every watt becomes heat in the room. Power planning and cooling planning are the same spreadsheet. A miner within circuit capacity but beyond room cooling capacity still fails — thermally throttled and loud.

When to Call an Electrician

Panel upgrades, new dedicated lines, and any work inside the breaker box require a licensed electrician. We coordinate timing so assessment and electrical work happen in sensible order, but we do not perform panel modifications ourselves.
